Carnegie Arts Center hosts artists, celebrates Bard

The Carnegie Arts Center and the Central California Art Association's Mistlin Gallery in Modesto are presenting the awards for the Central California Art Showcase.

An artists’ reception, including the presentation of awards, will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight concurrently at both galleries. The award-winning artists will also be on hand for a free gallery talk at 2 p.m. April 13 at the Carnegie.

The exhibit showcases new artistic works in a variety of mediums. It will be on display at both galleries through May 11. Gallery hours at the Carnegie are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Hours at Mistlin are 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

 

The Carnegie is celebrating the birthday of Shakespeare with a host of family fun activities at 7 p.m. April 11. The free event is part of the Family Friday series.

The activities planned to celebrate The Bard’s birthday include some acting, sword play, crafts, and of course cake.

From more than 200 entries, jurors have selected 84 works that will be on display in the annual Carnegie Art Showcase exhibition taking place this summer at the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock. The juried exhibition is a celebration of artistic excellence. The show opened Wednesday and will be on view in the CAC’s Ferrari Gallery until Sept. 5.
