The Turlock Community Theatre will open their 2016-17 season with a performance from Stockton native and rock musician Chris Isaak on Sept. 11.

Isaak is a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, actor and talk show host, who has been performing for decades with his band Silvertone.

Isaak first gained national attention when his song “Wicked Game” of his third album “Heart Shaped World hit the airwaves in 1989.  The song hit its stride in 1991 and reached number 6 of the Billboard Hot 100. Two videos were made for the song, one of which featured supermodel Helena Christensen, and went on to win several MTV awards, including Best Male Video.

Isaak continued to find success on the radio with hits like "Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing" and "Somebody's Crying,” both of which highlighted his fetching crooner styled vocals and skill on the guitar. In the ensuing decades Isaak has released several albums and collaborations, including a cover of Buddy Holly’s “Crying, Waiting, Hoping” for the tribute album “Listen to Me: Buddy Holly.” Isaak’s most recent album is “First Comes the Night.” Isaak was a recent judge on the X-Factor in Australia, and performed at the opening of the Super Bowl festivities in San Francisco.

In addition to his musical career, Isaak has found success on the small and big screens. He starred in Showtime's “The Chris Isaak Show,” which portrayed a fictional account of his life on the road, and “The Chris Isaak Hour” on the Biography Channel. He also appeared in “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me,” “Married to the Mob,” “The Silence of the Lambs,” “That Thing You Do!,” “A Dirty Shame,” and “The Informers.”

Isaak will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11. Tickets are $49, $69, and $79. Tickets can be purchased by calling 668-1169 or online at www.turlocktheatre.org.
