California State University, Stanislaus is holding auditions open to the public for their spring performances of “Twelfth Night.”

Main auditions will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and callbacks and makeup auditions will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

Those auditioning should memorize a one to two minute classical monologue from the works of Shakespeare, Johnson, Moliere, Voltaire, etc., with comedic monologues preferred.

All auditions will be in the Mainstage Theatre on the campus.

The performances are set for April 29, 30, May 1, 2, 3, and 4. The show will be directed by Chicago actor/director Dan Gately.

The university also is seeking musicians to join the CSU Stanislaus Symphony Band. The college-community concert band is looking for experienced woodwind, brass, and percussion players who would be interested in playing with the ensemble.  The Symphony Band performs once each semester

The ensemble meets every Monday evening in room 22 in the Department of Music.

Showcase exhibit opens at Carnegie

From more than 200 entries, jurors have selected 84 works that will be on display in the annual Carnegie Art Showcase exhibition taking place this summer at the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock. The juried exhibition is a celebration of artistic excellence. The show opened Wednesday and will be on view in the CAC’s Ferrari Gallery until Sept. 5.
