All the beloved characters from the Dr. Seuss books, from Horton to the Cat in the Hat, to Gertrude McFuzz and The Grinch, are coming to life in the Turlock Youth Performing Art’s Senior Company’s production of “Seussical Jr.”

The musical extravaganza opens tonight at the Turlock Community Theatre with additional shows set for Saturday and Sunday.

The story, told by the Cat in the Hat, follows Horton, as he tries to protect the Whos on their speck of dust and an egg left by Mayzie La Bird.

The cast features high school students and incoming college freshmen from around the area.

Shows are at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are $8 for children and $10 for adults and are available at the theatre prior to the shows.
