Modesto Junior College’s annual dance revue will be taking on a reality show format with the “So You Think You Can…Jam ‘n Jive” concert.

The annual dance concert will follow the format of the popular reality TV show “So You Think You Can Dance.”  Each featured guest has selected a style of jazz dance to choreograph and perform, choosing from jazz funk, Broadway, contemporary, traditional, 90’s jazz, lyrical and competition style jazz dance.

In addition to MJC’s Off-Balance Dancers, the high schools involved in this year’s Jam ‘n Jive concert are Downey, Davis, Beyer, Gregori, Modesto and Central Catholic.  Also performing are the private dance studios of 5678 Dance, Backstage Dance, Valley Oak School of Dance, Strut Performing Arts, The Dance Factory and The Dance Academy.

The dance revue will take to the stage at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23, 24, 25, and 26 in the Main Auditorium of the Performing and Media Arts Center on the East Campus, at 435 College Ave. in Modesto. Admission is $10 general and $8 for students and senior citizens.  Students can receive a discounted ticket price of $5 for the Sept. 23 performance by showing their student ID card. Tickets are available online at http://mjc.tix.com and at the Auditorium Box Office, which is open from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and at the door beginning 90 minutes prior to each performance.
