Pat Benatar Turlock show canceled

The Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo show at the Turlock Community Theatre expected to pull into town Tuesday has been cancelled because of a medical emergency.

Giraldo, Benatar’s husband and guitar player, also known as Spyder, has to have emergency surgery on his eye, forcing the couple to cancel the remainder of their shows to give him time to recover.

In a released statement the couple said, “It has been a crazy week... Spyder’s eye injury was unexpected and terrifying. Thanking God and the Universe that he was able to have surgery immediately and save his eye. He is healing nicely and is expected to make a full recovery! Unfortunately, not soon enough for us to continue the tour. He is unable to fly, exert himself, or engage in any activity that could compromise the healing process. So with heavy hearts, we will have to cancel the scheduled dates.”

Kit Casey, managing director of the Turlock Community Theatre, said they are in the process of refunding ticket holders for the show by check and the refunds should be received within the next couple of weeks.

There are no current plans to reschedule the show.
