Playhouse Merced is getting into the spirit of all things creepy, spooky, mysterious, and kooky with their upcoming production of “The Addams Family.”

In this musical incarnation of America’s most macabre family, Wednesday Addams is all grown up and has fallen in love.  When she brings home her new love to meet the family, they are horrified to find out he is a sweet, smart, normal young man.  As generations of Addams rise from the grave in horror, chaos and scandal ensue as the family must deal with Wednesday’s shocking new love and all of its consequences.

“‘The Addams Family’ is a wonderful musical for the entire family, and an excellent way to enjoy the Halloween season,” said Playhouse spokesperson Sean Overton. “It’s filled with memorable music and even more memorable characters.”

The role of Wednesday Addams is being performed by Madison Mitchell and Baylor Browning plays her love Lucas Beineke. The show also stars Corey Strauss as Gomez Addams, Dianne Kocher as Morticia Addams, Andrew Burkum as Uncle Fester, Steven Burkum as Pugsley, Jessica Dimpel as Grandma, and Chris Battisti as Lurch.

The musical will begin a four week run on Oct. 7, with the final show set for Oct. 30. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday shows are at 2 p.m. All shows are at Playhouse Merced at 452 W. Main St.
