The Turlock Police Department is investigating a home invasion robbery where the suspect stole a firearm.

The robbery happened shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 400 block of W. Main Street.

The resident was asleep when a masked suspected entered the home through an unlocked back door, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The resident awoke and was able to run out of the home, though the armed suspect chased after him for a short distance before fleeing the area. There were no injuries reported from the incident.

Once back at his home, the victim discovered personal property had been stolen, including a semi-automatic pistol, Holeman said.

There was no description for the intruder. The incident remains under investigation.
