The Turlock Police Department is looking for a Mercedes Benz and the driver who was involved in a fatal hit and run Saturday night.
The deceased was identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Johnny Romo, 44, of Turlock.
Romo was riding a bicycle in the area of N. Front Street near the intersection of Almond Avenue around 7 p.m. Saturday when he was struck by the vehicle.
The police department was notified of the collision, but it’s unknown who called 911.
The first officers to arrive at the scene found the victim with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Investigating officers determined that the suspect vehicle is a gray/charcoal in color Mercedes Benz sedan. Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect vehicle that has visible damage to the front and/or side, consistent with a collision with a bicycle. The suspect may be seeking repair at an auto body shop.
