An elderly woman awoke to find an unknown and barefoot man in her home, who ran away when she pressed her life alarm necklace.

The woman was not injured during the unexpected encounter and the suspect, identified as Logan Blaine Kunze, 19, was apprehended not long after the break-in was reported.

It was just passed 1:30 a.m. Saturday when the woman awoke to the sound of a voice coming from inside her home in the 700 block of Pedras Road. The woman lives alone, so she got up to investigate the noise.

The woman walked into her kitchen and saw a young, shoeless man standing there.

The woman later told officers that she immediately pressed her life alert button, which prompted the suspect to run out the front door. The investigation revealed he had entered the home by pushing open one of the windows, said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Michael Parmley.

In his haste to flee, Kunze left behind his shoes, Parmley said.

A search of the area was conducted and Kunze, still barefoot, was located and taken into custody. He was positively identified by the woman and booked into Stanislaus County Jail on a charge of burglary.
