Denair man prison bound for sexually abusing minors
court

A Denair man has been sentenced to 25 years to life after he was convicted of two counts of lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14.

Joel Alejandro Olivares, 41, of Denair also admitted one enhancement for committing this specified sex offense against multiple victims.

Beginning 2009 through 2011, Olivares sexually molested Jane Doe #1 on separate occasions in his home. Jane Doe #1 was sexually abused by Olivares from age nine to eleven years old. Olivares coerced Jane Doe #1 not to tell anyone about these incidents by threatening to “do something worse” to Jane Doe #2.

Beginning 2014 through 2016, Olivares sexually molested Jane Doe #2 on separate occasions in his home. Similar to Jane Doe #1, Jane Doe #2 was sexually abused between the ages of nine and eleven years old. Olivares had also coerced Jane Doe #2 not to tell anyone about these incidents by threatening to sexually molest Jane Doe #3.

In August 2019, Jane Doe #2 reported the molestation to her mother. Jane Doe #1 then also confirmed the molestation. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office arrested and interviewed Olivares. During the interview, Olivares admitted to the sexual molestation of Jane Doe #1 and Jane Doe #2.

On May 26, during a hearing before the Honorable Robert Westbrook, Olivares entered a no contest plea to the charges.

On June 26, Olivares was sentenced to 25 years to life consecutive to six years for a total of 31 years-to-life in state prison.
