A Turlock man was arrested for drunk driving and hit and run after crashing into a parked vehicle and two yards.

The Turlock Police Department reported Matthew Costa, 28, was driving a 3500 Ram truck in the 500 block of E. Hawkeye Avenue around 5 p.m. Monday. Costa's truck struck a parked vehicle, making it to spin out of control and into two front yards, causing significant damage, according to the police report.

Costa allegedly drove away from the scene and continued eastbound on Hawkeye Avenue, until the truck broke down near the intersection of Smith Drive. He tried to continue his flight on foot, but was caught by a couple of witnesses, who held him at the scene until police officers arrived, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Parmley.

No injuries were reported from the incident. Costa was released on a citation.
