From Easter Night to McDonald’s parking lot: Turlock’s recent stabbing spree
TPD

The Turlock Police Department has released additional details about the three stabbings that occurred over a two-day span, shedding light on the incidents while maintaining that they are unrelated.

The first stabbing, reported on Easter Sunday evening in the 1600 block of Lander Avenue, involved a 19-year-old suspect, Manuel Horta. The victim, who sustained several large lacerations to his left arm, is expected to survive. Police confirmed that Horta, known to the victim, is currently in custody in Merced County for an unrelated aggravated assault in Hilmar. He now faces attempted murder charges in connection with the Turlock incident, with additional charges pending.

The second stabbing occurred just after midnight on Monday near West Avenue North and West Olive Avenue. The victim, an adult male, was walking to a store when an unknown man dressed in black approached him. Initially believing he had been struck, the victim later realized he had suffered a non-life-threatening puncture wound to his right abdomen. He sought help at home before being transported to the hospital. Police are actively investigating this case, canvassing the area for evidence and speaking with neighbors.

The third incident unfolded Monday morning in the parking lot of a McDonald’s on West Main Street. A dispute in the drive-thru escalated into an aggravated assault, with both the victim and suspect fleeing in their vehicles. Officers quickly located one of the cars and discovered the passenger, who had sustained multiple leg wounds, requiring immediate medical attention. The victim and suspect are believed to have known each other, and the case has been referred to the District Attorney for review.

Despite public speculation, the police department reiterated that there is no evidence linking the three stabbings. Investigations into all incidents remain ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Turlock Police Department at (209) 668-1200.
