A preliminary hearing for Gabriel Miranda, the man accused of shooting to death a 24-year-old Turlock man, has been set for Sept. 17.

Miranda is facing a homicide charge for the fatal shooting of Simon White, who was killed in a drive-by shooting that occurred around 10:45 p.m. May 2, 2012, outside a home in the 100 block of Vermont Street.

Miranda was taken into custody June 2 in Burley, Idaho and extradited back to California to face the charges against him.

Miranda, a suspected member of the Nuestra Familia prison gang, is being held at the Stanislaus County Jail in lieu of a $3 million bail. In addition to the homicide charge, Miranda is facing four outstanding misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and two misdemeanor counts of driving on a suspended license. He has entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him.
