An observant witness helped Turlock police officers find and arrest a suspected hit and run driver who injured a motorcyclist Tuesday morning.
The suspect, identified by the police department as Rodrigo Gonzalez Gutierrez, 35, was arrested hours after the incident was reported.
The motorcyclist suffered a broken leg and other injuries from the collision.
The collision happened just before 7 a.m. Tuesday at W. Main Street and N. Tully Road.
The motorcyclist was eastbound on W. Main Streets and was turning onto Tully. At the same time, a pickup was pulling out of the Circle K store into the turn lane at Tully.
The pickup struck the motorcycle and then fled the scene.
A witness at the scene saw the collision and was able to give police a detailed description of both the driver and the pickup truck, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.
The investigation led officers to a home on Pioneer Avenue, where a pickup truck was located with damage consistent with a recent collision, Lewis said.
The witness identified Gutierrez as the driver of the pickup truck.
Gutierrez was booked into Stanislaus County Jail for felony hit and run.
