Turlock Police detectives are investigating a shooting on Main Street that left one man mortally wounded.
Around 1:30 a.m. today police began receiving multiple calls reporting shots fired in the vicinity of E. Main Street and Pioneer Avenue. As the first officers arrived at the scene, they located a vehicle that had run up on the curb in front of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Minaret Avenue.
The driver of the vehicle had been fatally shot, according to the police department.
The man’s name has not been released. According to the police department he is of Indian descent and appears to be in his 20s.
Based on bullet casings collected from the area, it appears the man was shot near Pioneer Avenue.
Investigators have been at the scene for several hours and have closed off streets as the investigation continues.
