Man ejected from truck on highway and struck multiple times by vehicles

An unidentified man who was ejected from his vehicle in a rollover crash on Highway 99, was subsequently hit by four more vehicles, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The man, whose age and home town were not known, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The collision happened around 1:30 a.m. Monday on Highway 99 near Shanks Road in Delhi.

The deceased was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram southbound on the highway, when for an unknown reason, he allowed the vehicle to veer into the center median, according to the CHP.

The Ram proceeded across the center divide until it struck a guardrail and overturned several times before coming to a stop on its wheels.

The male driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected into the first lane of northbound Highway 99 during the rollover, the CHP reported.

The male was struck by four vehicles traveling in the northbound lane. All four motorists stopped at the scene and assisted with the investigation. None of the four drivers were found to be driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. None of them were injured.

It’s unknown at this time if the deceased driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The collision remains under investigation.
