A report of elder abuse led to the arrest of a man in possession of tear gas, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The police department responded to an allegation of elder abuse in the 200 block of Rutgers Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers found enough cause to arrest 21-year-old Lyle Harlan on suspicion of elder abuse. During the investigation officers discovered Harlan was in possession of tear gas.

Harlan also was charged with being a felon in possession of tear gas.
