KEYES – A man sustained fatal injuries Monday morning when he left his vehicle parked alongside Highway 99 and walked in front of an approaching big-rig.
The man appears to have committed suicide but CHP said they are cannot confirm that the man intentionally walked into the truck’s path.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. north of Keyes Road.
Emergency personnel arrived on scene and located a sedan and big-rig on the right shoulder and a pedestrian on the right shoulder with major injures. He was transported by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
The victim has not been identified but drove an Acura coupe to the location.
California Highway Patrol investigators say the man stepped in front of a northbound 2022 Freightliner driven by a 48-year-old Moreno Valley man, in the slow lane. He immediately pulled over after the impact.
