Two Turlock massage parlors were cited Wednesday for multiple violations after the Turlock Police Department received information the businesses were involved in activities related to prostitution.

No arrests were made in regards to prostitution, but the vice investigation is ongoing, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

Turlock Police detectives were accompanied on the compliance checks by agents from the Employment Development Department, Department of Labor Standards Enforcement and the Turlock Fire Department’s Fire Marshal and Building Inspector.

After complete inspections and interviews with employees, owners and clients, a total of five citations were issued between the two businesses. Violations included: failing to keep records of treatments, employing unlicensed masseuses, as well as various fire and building codes.

The operation was conducted to ensure the businesses were complying with all state laws and local ordinances that address the safety of patrons and employees.
