Money dispute at root of stabbing

An argument between two men over money escalated into an aggravated assault when one man stabbed another, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The stabbing was reported at 12:05 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Park Street.

The men were arguing over money when the suspect grabbed a broken fence board and used it to hit and slash the victim repeatedly, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Parmley.

The victim was driven to the hospital while officers were responding to the scene. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Officers have identified the suspect, but his name is not being released at this time. The suspect is facing a charge of aggravated assault.
