The Turlock Police Department has identified a suspect in an early morning shooting that wounded two.
Investigators have named Manuel Maldonado Jr., 19, of Turlock, as the prime suspect in the Saturday shooting. Maldonado is being sought on attempted murder charges and is considered armed and dangerous.
The shooting occurred just before 5:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Chestnut Street. The two victims — a 26-year-old man and a male teenager — were both outside a residence when they were shot in the lower portion of their bodies, with one sustaining a wound to his foot, said Turlock Police Detective Scott Ellis.
Both victims are expected to recover from their injuries.
The events that led up to the shooting remain under investigation and the possibility it was gang-related is still being considered.
Anyone with any information regarding Maldonado’s whereabouts is asked to contact TPD Detective Ellis at 664-7329 during business hours or TPD Communications Center, 24 hours a day, at 668-1200.
