The Turlock woman who told investigators on Monday that she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted, admitted on Tuesday that she made the entire story up.

The 32-year-old woman was found Monday afternoon in a basement of a vacant home in the 500 block of N. Thor Street. She was found by a contractor who heard her screaming. The contractor found her naked and tied up.

The woman told investigators that she was lured into the home by two unknown men and that the men sexually assaulted her.

During questioning detectives began to notice several inconsistencies in her story. Eventually the woman admitted that she fabricated the entire story. She told investigators she undressed herself and tied herself up as a way to gain attention.

The police department has not released the woman’s name, but did indicate she could face charges for filing a false police report.

Five detectives, one crime scene technician, two patrol officers and one sergeant were called into the case and spent the better part of the day investigating the woman’s claim, according to the police department.
