The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department apprehended a murder suspect leaving a Turlock store on Wednesday night after a woman recognized him from Crime Stoppers.

Sheriff’s detectives arrested Isaac Vaughn, 33 of Riverbank, on suspicion of murder for the death of Jesus Quintana, 59, on Aug. 5.

Sheriff’s investigators believe Quintana was killed by Vaughn during a physical altercation in the 3700 block of Texas Avenue in Riverbank.

Deputies who responded to the scene on the night of the murder found Quintana partially clothed and lying in the front yard of a residence.

It’s unknown what instigated the fight or how Quintana died. An autopsy was performed and the death was ruled a homicide.

Detectives later issued an arrest warrant for Vaughn for murder. Detectives have been questioning witnesses and following up leads in an attempt to locate Vaughn.

On Wednesday the sheriff’s department received an anonymous call from a woman who had just spotted Vaughn at the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 2480 Geer Road in Turlock.

The woman said she identified him by the photograph released in the Crime Stoppers bulletins.

Detectives responded to the store and nabbed Vaughn without incident as he was leaving the store.

Vaughn was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on the homicide charge.
