Robbers stab man because he had nothing of value to take

The quick actions of a Turlock Police officer are being credited with saving a man’s life after he was stabbed repeatedly by two masked assailants in an armed robbery gone awry.

The victim was a 58-year-old man and he sustained stab wounds to his torso and arm, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The incident began around midnight Wednesday when the victim was approached by two masked men in the 500 block of Eighth Street.

The two assailants demanded the man hand over his personal property. When he told them that he had no belongings to give them, they got upset and stabbed him repeatedly.

Turlock Police Officer Jake Young was one of the first to arrive at the scene and found the victim bleeding profusely from his injuries. Young acted quickly and applied a tourniquet, which medical staff credited with saving the man’s life, Holeman said.

There were no descriptions available for either suspect.

Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to contact the police department at 668-5550.
