A Turlock man is facing criminal charges for a weapon offense and a robbery after he was caught allegedly trying to shoplift from a grocery store.

The suspect, identified as Shawn Barajas, 22, was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of robbery and possession of a dirk or dagger, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday the police department was dispatched to the Raley’s store at 2900 Geer Road for a theft suspect being held by a loss prevention agent.
