Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department detectives and members of the SWAT team worked together Wednesday morning to take a suspect into custody for a homicide in Turlock last year.

Thaddius Pace, 44, of Turlock was apprehended at a home in the 100 block of G Street and booked into Stanislaus County Jail on allegations of murder for the death of Rudy Yvanes, 59, of Turlock.

On the night of Oct. 21, 2017, law enforcement was dispatched to the 200 block of I Street in Turlock for a report of shots fired. At the scene they found Yvanes with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives responded and processed the crime scene and interviewed witnesses. The vacant property had been a hang-out for homeless people and authorities were looking for people to come forward with information about the fatal shooting. During the course of the investigation, Pace was identified as the primary suspect.

Pace has prior convictions for drug possession and auto theft and was on probation at the time of the shooting, according to the court records from Stanislaus County Superior Court.

Pace remains in custody without bail.
