Stevinson man killed in Turlock crash
emergency

The California Highway Patrol reported a Stevinson man lost his life in a single vehicle collision Saturday night on a country road in the outskirts of Turlock.

The deceased was identified as Eric Duane Vaughn. He was 46 years old and from Stevinson.

The collision happened at 5:59 p.m. Saturday on N. Washington Road, north of Taylor Road.

Vaughn was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche north on N. Washington Road at an unknown speed. Just north of Taylor Road, he allowed the vehicle to veer off the road to the left and continue along the west dirt shoulder until it struck two trees and then overturned.

Vaughn was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the Chevrolet, according to the CHP. Life-saving measures were attempted, but he had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It's unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.

The collision remains under investigation.
