Stolen property recovered

A man contacted during a bicycle stop was arrested Tuesday after he was found with more than $1,000 worth of stolen property, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Around 7 a.m. Tuesday an officer stopped Trevon Packer, 26, in the area of Geer Road and Syracuse Avenue.

A run of the suspect’s name showed he was wanted on a warrant for a failure to appear on a municipal code infraction. A subsequent search revealed he was in possession of more than $1,000 worth of stolen property. The property was traced back to an earlier burglary reported in the county. The property was identified by the rightful owner and returned to them, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

Packer was arrested on suspicion of grand theft and booked into Stanislaus County Jail.
