Three men were arrested early Friday after crashing a stolen vehicle into a ditch in Delhi, the Merced County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The suspects were identified as Ramon Preciado, 18, Jesse Sanchez, 19, and Daniel Morales, 19.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Friday, deputies spotted a blue 2004 Ford Explorer that had earlier been reported stolen out of Atwater.

The deputies attempted to pull the Ford over in the area of Schendel Avenue and Shanks Road in Delhi, but the driver sped off.

The vehicle pursuit reached high speeds, but lasted only about one mile.

The driver lost control of the Ford, causing it to crash and rollover into a ditch at Stephens Street and South Avenue.

In the vehicle deputies found several tools that also turned out to be stolen.

The three suspects were medically evaluated at an area hospital before being arrested on theft charges.
