Suspect caught napping

A Turlock man found asleep behind the wheel at an intersection was arrested for weapon and narcotic offenses.

Just after 7 a.m. Tuesday a Turlock Police officer found Raul Hernandez-Mendez, 48, dozing away in his vehicle while stopped at the intersection of Alpha Road and Minaret Avenue.

Hernandez-Mendez was not found to be under the influence of alcohol, but he did have a suspended driver’s license, according to the police report.

The officer conducted an inventory of the items in Hernandez-Mendez’s car because it was going to be impounded. In doing so, the officer came across a revolver and a bag of methamphetamine.

Hernandez-Mendez was arrested on suspicion of possession of a loaded and concealed firearm and possession of methamphetamine.
