Suspect punches man for cell phone
TPD crime scene

A man walking along a Turlock neighborhood Tuesday afternoon was approached by a stranger who punched him and then took his cell phone, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The victim was walking in the 1000 block of Gettysburg Street around 3 p.m. Tuesday when he was approached by an African-American man who asked him a question, said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.

When the victim looked down at his phone, the suspect punched him, knocking him to the ground, Webb said.

The suspect grabbed the cell phone and left in a dark-colored Mercedes.

The suspect was described as standing about 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 2 inches and about 200 pounds. He is believed to be in his 20s to 30s and was wearing a blue bandana and blue Adidas tennis shoes.
