A report of a verbal disturbance turned into a charge of aggravated assault for a Turlock man after he allegedly purposely hit a man with his car.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Pioneer Avenue.

The suspect, identified as Christopher Webber, 33, had stopped his car when he was approached by a man on a bike. The two were in a verbal altercation over a prior incident when Webber allegedly put his foot on the gas and sideswiped the man on the bike, said Turlock Police spokesperson officer Mayra Lewis.

Officers were able to locate Webber and take him into custody without further incident. He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault.

The male victim was not injured from the assault.
