A head-on collision between two vehicles on a Turlock road left both drivers seriously injured and a passenger with minor injuries, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The collision happened around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday on W. Taylor Road, west of N. Walnut Road.

The two vehicles involved — a Dodge pickup and a Chevy Sports Utility Vehicle — collided head-on and sustained major damage, Sgt. Stephen Webb said.

The drivers of both vehicles, a man and a woman, were pinned inside their vehicles and had to be freed by Turlock Fire Department personnel using the “Jaws of Life” apparatus to cut them out.

Both of the drivers suffered major injuries from the crash, but the injuries were not considered life-threatening, Webb said.

A female passenger in the Chevy sustained minor injuries from the collision.

All three were taken by ambulance to area hospitals.

The cause of the wreck has not been determined and the investigation is ongoing. The Turlock Police Department requests that any witness to the collision that did not already speak to police, to call Officer Joe Dusel at 664-7382.
