Teenager accused of drive-by shooting

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for attempted homicide after Turlock Police investigators linked him to a recent drive-by shooting.

The drive-by shooting happened shortly before 9 p.m. on May 26 in the 200 block of W. Main Street.

“Through the initial investigation, it was determined one of the three involved individuals shot at a moving vehicle,” the police department stated in a news release. “Investigators with the Special Investigations Unit took over the case and were able to identify one of the three subjects as the shooter.”

On Wednesday, the SIU team obtained an arrest warrant for the 16-year-old boy. He was taken into custody at the Turlock Police Department without incident. He is facing charges of attempted homicide, shooting at an occupied vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of a concealed firearm.

Investigators are still attempting to identify the other subjects involved in the drive by shooting. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Investigator Jimenez at (209) 668-6518.
