A man fleeing from the Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Turlock with his arms full of stolen clothing, was caught moments later with the pinched apparel and a loaded firearm, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The suspect was identified by the police department as Miguel Sanchez-Alcazar, 31, of Los Banos.

Around 4 p.m. on Nov. 15, an employee at Dick’s Sporting Goods at 2711 Countryside Drive, reported that a man had just run out of the store with numerous clothing items and was currently driving away in a white sedan.

Turlock Police Officer Donna Anthieny was dispatched to the scene and en route spotted a vehicle that matched the description provided by the store employee.

A traffic stop was initiated and as Anthieny spoke with the driver, later identified as Sanchez-Alcazar, she could see in plain sight piles of athletic clothing with the security tags still attached, according to the police department.

Sanchez-Alcazar and his passenger, Thomas King Jr., 27, of Atwater were both detained and a search of the car was conducted.

Inside the car, officers found a loaded, unregistered gun, a fixed blade knife, and drug paraphernalia.

Sanchez-Alcazar was arrested on suspicion of theft, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

King was cited for a warrant.
