Theft suspect spotted leaving store

A man attempting to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise from a Turlock store ended up under arrest when a police officer saw him leaving the store.

Shortly around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday a Turlock Police officer was driving a patrol car behind the Wal-Mart store at 2111 Fulkerth Rd. when a man came out an emergency exit loaded down with merchandise from the store.

Spotting the officer, the suspect, later identified as Jamie Murray, 40, promptly turned back around and went back into the store. The officer followed and a short foot pursuit ensued through the store.

Murray was eventually captured in the store and taken into custody. On his person officers found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Murray was arrested on suspicion of theft, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and for two felony warrants out of Fresno County.
