Thefts net prison term

A Turlock man was sentenced to six years in prison for several thefts.Daniel Allen Coats, 28, was convicted of auto theft and residential burglary on July 21, the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office reported.On May 8, 2009, Coats broke into a Cadillac Escalade that was parked at the El Rosal restaurant in Turlock. He stole a purse that was left inside and took the victim’s house key and driver’s license from inside the purse to discover her address. He drove to the Denair home and burglarized it while the victim was still eating inside the restaurant. While investigating the scene, a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputy located a fingerprint that was determined to match Coats. An arrest warrant was then issued for Coats.On May 11, Coats stole a 1997 gold Infinity J30 car that was parked on Lander Avenue inTurlock. Coats was later arrested in Sparks, Nev. driving the stolen car.
