Three booked for weapon charges
Arrests prompted by reports of suspicious individuals

Turlock Police officers arrested three men Monday on various weapon charges stemming from three different reports of suspicious individuals.

The first arrest came around 9 a.m. Monday when a person called in a suspicious individual in the 1100 block of Myrtle Street. The caller said a man was seen peering into a backyard.

Officers found Artura Franco in the area and found him in possession of a stolen bicycle and brass knuckles. He was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on a weapon offense and possession of stolen property.

A little more than two hours later a second man was found with brass knuckles. Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Entertainment Way for a report of a suspicious man, possibly casing parked vehicles in the area.

Officers found Virgil Roberts, 50, and discovered he had an active felony warrant out of Modesto. A search prior to his arrest showed him in possession of brass knuckles. He was booked for a weapon offense and the warrant.

The third arrest came around 11 p.m. Monday when a caller reported a suspicious individual parked in the drive-up lane of the ATM at Bank of the West at 2101 Fulkerth Road.

According to the police report, Kuldip Johal, 34, was under the influence and had been at the ATM for an extended period of time.

During a search, officers found a loaded handgun and prescription medications not belonging to Johal. He was booked for driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a loaded handgun.
