Turlock was plagued by several armed robberies over the past few days, with the Turlock Police Department seeking several suspects.

Of the four robberies, police arrested one suspect and have identified a suspect in another. None of the robberies appear to be related.

The first robbery happened around 12:44 p.m. Friday and involved the theft of baby formula.

The robbery was at the Walgreens at 1591 Geer Rd. Two adult African American women in their mid to late 20s entered the store and picked up several cans of Enfamil baby formula. The two women walked out the store, but were confronted by a store employee in the parking lot before they could leave the scene, said Turlock Police Sgt. Stephen Webb.

When confronted by the employee one of the suspects pulled out a Taser. The woman pointed it at the employee and yelled ‘get back,’” Webb said.

The two women fled the area in a black Kia Amante.

The second robbery was reported around 11:49 p.m. Friday and resulted in a man getting punched in the face.

A man was just getting out of his car at the Stop N Shop at 1590 Lander Ave. when a man walked up and punched him in the face. The suspect then pulled out a knife and stole a bag from the victim.

The suspect ran off into a neighborhood off of Linwood. A witness gave chase after him, but lost sight of him when he ran into a drainage ditch, Webb said.

The suspect was described as standing 6 feet tall and weighing about 185 pounds. His race was not given, but he was described as wearing a sweatshirt with a hood, sunglasses and a bandana over his face.

The third robbery happened shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday and resulted in the arrest of a suspect.

The victim told police officers he had chatted with a man he believed to be homeless at the Jack in the Box at 100 N. Golden State Blvd. Later, the victim said the suspect was with other people when he pulled a knife on him and demanded his cell phone and wallet. For fear of his safety, the victim handed over the items and the suspect left the area.

“Based on the descriptions of the subjects involved officers were able to identify the suspect as John Long,” Webb said.

The 49-year-old Long was apprehended Monday around 10 a.m. in the 300 block of A Street.

The fourth robbery was reported at 9:48 p.m. Monday in the area on Third Street. The victim of the robbery told the police officers he was approached by a man he knows only by a nickname. The suspect had a knife and told the man he wanted the money owed to him. The victim told the police he was afraid of the suspect and gave up his property. The suspect was last seen leaving the area on his bike.

Webb said investigators have identified the suspect and are currently seeking him for armed robbery, but at this time they are not releasing his name.

The Turlock Police Department asks anyone with information about any of the robberies to call 668-5550.
