Turlock man accused of rape

The Turlock Police Department has arrested a 35-year-old man on allegations he forcibly raped a woman at a Turlock motel.

The suspect has been identified as Edward Collin Taylor Jr.35, of Turlock. He was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges of forcible rape, sodomy, and false imprisonment, according to jail records. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $150,000 bail.

The incident was reported to the police department Wednesday night after the female victim went to Emanuel Medical Center for help.

The victim told investigators the attack happened earlier in the day at the Venice Motel at 1114 N. Golden State Boulevard.

The victim provided investigators with Taylor’s name, claiming he was the one responsible for the alleged assault. It’s unknown how the victim knew the suspect.

Taylor was apprehended without incident.

At the time of his arrest, Taylor was on probation for a conviction of willful cruelty to a child causing injury and or death. He entered a no contest plea to the charge in 2012 and was put on probation. Since that time he has racked up numerous probation violations, according to Stanislaus County Superior Court records.

On April 19, 2014, Taylor was arrested by Turlock Police officers after a short pursuit. Taylor was wanted for a violation of his probation and when officers spotted him in the area of Wayside Drive and N. Palm Avenue, he took off running.

The foot pursuit lasted just a few seconds as the officers caught up to him and took him into custody. Taylor was found in possession of heroin at the time of his arrest. He was arrested on charges of resisting, possession of heroin and for the probation violation. According to the court records, he entered a plea of no contest to the resisting charge and the drug charge was dismissed. He was given probation sentencing again.
