Turlock mother arrested for leaving toddler, baby home alone

A 19-year-old mother was arrested by Turlock Police officers after she left her two children home alone and her 2-year-old daughter was found playing in the road.

The woman was identified as Joseline Lizzet Martinez. She was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on charges of felony child abuse/neglect. She remains in custody in lieu of a $50,000 bail.

A neighbor was the first to spot the 2-year-old playing in the road in the 100 block of Twentieth Century Boulevard, near the intersection with Geer Road. The neighbor was able to locate the apartment the child lives in and found an infant there unattended. The neighbor contacted the police department.

Officers went to the apartment and were trying to locate the parents when Martinez came back home. According to the police department Martinez admitted she had left her two children home alone.

Child Protective Services was brought in to take custody of the children.
