The Turlock Police Department has arrested a man for attempted homicide after he allegedly shot another man in a domestic dispute.

The suspect was identified by the police department as Richard Merrill, 25, of Turlock. Merrill surrendered to the police following the shooting.

Around 9:30 p.m. Sunday the police department received several calls reporting shots had been fired in the area of the 3400 block of Rochester Court.

The first officers to arrive at the scene found one man who had sustained a gunshot injury. The victim was transported to an area hospital with an injury described as non-life threatening by the police department.

Investigators determined that there was a domestic dispute that escalated and resulted in the shooting.

A short time later, Merrill arrived at the Turlock Police Department and turned himself in. The firearm was recovered.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information regarding the investigation is asked to please call Det. Tim Redd at (209) 664-7325.
