Members of the Stanislaus County Sherriff’s office delivered back-to-school supplies collected with the help of its STARS volunteer officers to elementary schools across the county on Tuesday. Thousands of dollars in were donated to provide backpacks, notebooks and other supplies, as well as hand sanitizers for local schools. The Stanislaus County Office of Education helped the Sheriff’s Office identify schools most in need of donated supplies.

Stanislaus State’s Academic Senate voted in favor of a bill that would require students enrolled in all 23 California State University campuses to take one 3-credit unit of any qualifying Ethnic Studies course before they graduate (Journal file photo).
