Students from Dutcher Middle and Cunningham Elementary schools recently competed in the Odyssey of the Mind competition, earning spots in the State Finals to be held later this month in Brentwood. Odyssey of the Mind is an international competition that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.Cunningham students constructed an unhinged balsa wood structure 8 inches tall and 6 inches wide in the shape of a square. The structure held a 30-pound weight. Dutcher students performed a creative skit in which a classical character acted as a tour guide to three locations across the globe.
