FBLA unite

The Pitman and Turlock high school Future Business Leaders of America clubs joined forces on Friday afternoon to help clean up Crane Park. The clubs picked up trash for four hours after bonding over a barbecue and pot luck — something THS FBLA member Nicholas Hickman believes is a testament to the good the two schools can do when working together. The PHS FBLA club is serving as a “big brother” of sorts for THS, Hickman said, adding that after an eight-year hiatus, FBLA has picked back up at his school.
“We wanted our chapters to bond because PHS and THS typically have a rivalry pretty much about everything, but FBLA is about teamwork,” Hickman said. “Even though we’re from different schools we want to promote the club and help other people experience what we’ve experienced.”
