The Turlock High School Symphonic Band finished fourth overall out of 17 bands during the Foothill Band Review held Saturday at Amador Valley High in Pleasanton.

The THS Symphonic band consists of 38 students who play an ensemble of percussion, wood and brass instruments. Only 38 students of the 100-member THS band participate in the symphonic section.

At the review THS placed second in the concert class of schools. Band Director Daniel Baudino complimented the students on a fine performance.

“We did really well in our division and we’ve been growing and getting better every year. The kids work really hard, and, at this point, the band has reached a level that THS hasn’t seen in a quite some time,” he said.

Baudino said the students practice one hour each day in class and then three hours on Monday for rehearsal.

On Nov. 12 the band will participate in the Central California Band Review, and on Dec. 6 the band will hold its Winter Concert at the THS Performing Arts Building. Also, on Dec. 1, the band will team up with the California State University, Stanislaus wind ensemble for a concert.
