The Turlock Unified School District’s Family Resource Center is continuing its mission of offering extra support and resources for children and families with more of the popular Family and Parent Information Nights.

This school year, the district will be hosting three Family Information Nights on a variety of topics including student safety, support for refugee families and college and career readiness. Additionally, Parent Information Nights alongside Golden Valley Health Centers are being held once a month.

The district’s first Family Information Night will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Turlock Junior High to provide a safety update and information on the rising problem of sex trafficking in the Central Valley, presented by Clint Range from the Without Permission campaign. The topic is for mature audiences only, and will give an overview of the issue and go over what parents and the community at large can do to keep students safe. The event, which requires an RSVP at https://bit.ly/WIthoutPermission, will feature dinner, a raffle, and a community partner resource fair.

As for the GVHC Parent Information Nights, the three to end the 2024 calendar year will discuss the topics of vaping, suicide prevention and parental stress.

Vaping will be the topic for October’s information night, set for Oct. 30. The suicide prevention presentation is slated for Nov. 20. The last one of the year will come on Dec. 18 and focus on stress.

Each Parent Information Night is held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Family Resource Center in room WW4 at the district office on 1574 E. Canal Dr.
