The UC Merced campus was awarded a $2.25 million grant to fund a multi-campus solar energy project.
Researchers at UC Merced, and its sister campuses in Berkeley and Santa Barbara, will use the funds to study ways to make solar energy more efficient and cheaper to utilize.
The funding is through the UC Office of the President and will go to the California Advanced Solar Technologies, one of 37 multi-campus research programs and initiatives that received funding.
