While the local chapter of the 20-30 Club is devoted to raising funds for children in need that doesn’t mean they don’t have fun doing it.

This year marks the club’s Fifth Annual Wine and Screams event, an evening of wine tasting, raffles, photos and more that has progressively grown since its inception. Originally hosted at Allen Mortuary and drawing an intimate crowd of club members and friends, the Halloween themed production has since expanded with an anticipated 350 individuals in attendance this year.

“This boost in attendance is a big change for us and we’ve maxed out our previous venues,” said Event Chair Krista Knight.

The club outgrew last year’s venue, the Carnegie Arts Center, and this year the War Memorial will play host to the annual event.

With several brands of wine as well as numerous varieties to taste, the 20-30 Club also offers beer options for those interested, including brews donated from Dust Bowl Brewery. Local restaurant Toscana’s has donated cuisine for the event alongside Togo’s and a slew of treats will be available to dip into the chocolate fondue fountain.

“We have it every year with a huge spread of fruit and desserts,” said Knight.

Those not busy eating and drinking can also play a ring toss game for a chance to win a bottle of wine as well as enjoy music from the local duo Neil Buettner and Matt Harrington. Raffle tickets will be for sale for a chance at the 40 to 50 raffle prizes as well as auction items such as Disneyland tickets, massages, and classes at local yoga studio I Am Yoga amongst other options. Platinum Photobooth will also be available for attendees to have their picture taken.

The proceeds from the event help the club’s annual Christmas shopping trip which provides kids with warm clothing and necessities. While the club has previously raised as much as $7,500, this year the goal is $10,000 in order to also provide a back to school shopping trip for children.

Tickets for the Fifth Annual Wine and Screams event are $40 per person or $70 for a couple and can be purchased at the Turlock Chamber of Commerce, Liberty Security, or online at www.wineandscreams2014.eventbrite.com.
